Abstract

This study deals with the contribution of games and games in early childhood education. For its development, it was questioned how games and games contribute to learning at this stage. The overall objective was to reflect on the contributions of games and games to children's learning in Early Childhood Education. Thus discussing in the timeline the conceptions of childhood and Early Childhood Education in the Ancient Age, Middle Ages and Modern Age. The work has the specific objective of demonstrating that games and games directly influence the development of children, thus highlighting through playful activities the aid in the acquisition of values ​​and rules, as well as access to culture as a whole, as well as knowledge historically produced, which are essential in the process of children's learning, highlighting the role of the teacher in this mediation and the strategies used in games and games. The methodologies used were studies and bibliographical research consisting of works and articles published on websites. We prioritize authors with a long history of studies in this theoretical field, such as Lev Vygotsky (1998), Philippe Ariès (1978), Tizuko Kishimoto (1993) and others. At the end of the investigation, it was concluded that the contributions that games and games provide in Early Childhood Education are important and very significant for the development of cognitive, affective and social abilities.
