Trabalho de campo: uma perspectiva para educação ambiental no ensino superior

Abstract

This paper presents the results of a research with higher education students from the Administration and Environmental Engineering courses of the University of Rio Verde - Campus Caiapônia-GO, whose objective was to apply fieldwork as a strategy for environmental education. Assuming that students who reach higher education should have at some point in their education had contact with environmental education, not as a discipline, but as a cross-cutting theme. To make the diagnosis, a questionnaire and interview were applied, which revealed that 43% of the students stated that they had never participated in any environmental education activity and that 60% had a utilitarian perception of the environment. This result reinforces the thesis that environmental education is inefficient or nonexistent in the education of elementary and high school students. Following the research was used the fieldwork strategy, based on contrasting landscape, and which are part of the students' reality, from a perspective of world reading or the construction of world reading from new concepts and perspectives. . Afterwards, conversation rounds were held to discuss the issue of environmental education in the field work. After the fieldwork was carried out, the second questionnaire and interview were applied, showing signs of changes in the students' environmental perception. Thus, it was concluded that field work is an efficient strategy for environmental education work, it needs to be a continuous work, because only the field work will not address all the existing problems around environmental issues and that specific actions are not enough to change the attitude of a subject. Therefore, Education must be continuously and cross-cutting in basic and higher education, contributing to the formation of subjects involved in a new relationship with nature and with each other.
