As contribuições do feminismo negro para a educação

Abstract

This monograph has the theme “The contributions of black feminism in education”, the line of research: Education, culture and society. This research aims to understand what feminism is and its milestones, understand what black feminism is, its main authors, concepts and themes and identify the main contributions of black feminist thought to education. The methodology used was theoretical-bibliographic, and we used as main theoretical references: Audre Lorde, Patricia Hill Collins and bell hooks. The research addressed the concept of black feminism, criticizing hegemonic feminism, which only benefits white women and women from the highest social classes. Audre Lorde was responsible for this research when reflecting on the position of oppression, while author Patricia Hill Collins addressed intersectionality and the importance of public, critical and democratic education. Bell hooks brought rich reflections to this monograph about the importance of understanding that black feminism is a movement that thinks about the most diverse people, not just a select group of women. Furthermore, she brought great contributions to how education can contribute to the liberation process of our black children. As a result of this discussion, we realized how black feminism operates from a counter-hegemonic perspective, bringing new debates to society and pointing out new demands for a school committed to a less racist and less sexist world.
