Ambiente físico e arquitetônico do Instituto Federal : análise da realidade de campus no IFG

Abstract

This research seeks to analyze to what extent the built environment and the architecture of the buildings of the Federal Institutes of Professional and Technological Education interfere in the achievement of their main purposes and objectives. The Federal Institutes, according to Law n. 11892/2008, are institutions of higher, basic, and professional education, multi curricular and multi campus, specialized in offering professional and technological education at different levels and modalities of teaching. The nature of this type of institution requires that each campus has the infr astructure and physical environments to serve and develop its administrative, academic, scientific, technological, and cultural activities. The general objective of the research is to study the degree of correspondence between the stages of planning, construction, and occupation of architectural spaces and physical environments on a campus of the Federal Institute, regarding the fulfillment of its main activities, as provided for in current legislation and the regulations for the nature of an institution of higher, basic and professional education. In this research, with a qualitative approach, a case study is chosen. At first, it starts with a literature review followed by field research with the proposal of questionnaires in the remote mode, aiming to unde rstand the reality of infrastructure and physical environments of a unit of the Federal Institute. In the second stage of the study, the documentary analysis of architectural projects, descriptive memorials, and photographic records of the different stagesof planning and construction of the campus complement the study. As for the theoretical framework, studies on the history of professional education in Brazil are based mainly on authors such as Cunha (2000) and Fonseca (1986). To understand the importance of the relationship between school architecture and the physical environment, the study relies mainly on research by Kowaltowski (2011). The studies by França, Villa, Ornstein, and Ono (2018) total the methodology on the Post Occupation Assessment (APO), whose objective is to assess the opinions or levels of satisfaction of users of the physical environments and buildings of the Federal Institute. The research contribution consists in the development of an educational product in the form of textual materia l, intending to help the community of Federal Institutes, in the planning, construction, and organization or renovation of physical spaces on campus (buildings), considering the complexity and multiplicity of end activities of this model of institution. Future research can deepen this analysis, seeking to better understand how the physical configurations of these institutions have interfered with the fulfillment of the objectives for which they were created.
