Martin Buber e o sentido da educação

Abstract

This book encourages the reader to rethink education through the dialogical perspective of Martin Buber, a 20th century Jewish philosopher. The need for the teacher-student relationship to go beyond the pedagogical field and enter the dialogical field is considered, transforming the school into a suprasocial community. In Buberian philosophy, dialogue contains elements of the inter-human: authenticity, presence, openness and genuine conversation, which focus on the sphere of relationships, shattered by the objectification of man in modernity. Buber, the “philosopher of the encounter”, argues that the actualization of the human Being is effected through the principle-words I-Thou and I-It, both crucial for the consummation of human existence: in the I-Thou man enters into a relationship with his fellow man and in the I-It experiences the other or the world. Buber's thought makes us recognize in education the meaning of rescuing humanity from human experiences.
