Abstract: Due to the growth of agricultural production, there was a need to increase the use of pesticides to control pests. In this scenario, Brazil occupies the first place in the world ranking since 2008, being a worrying factor due to the problems caused to human health and the environment by this exorbitant use. Carrot is a vegetable widely consumed by Brazilians, whether fresh or processed, and according to the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), in the last Pesticide Residue Analysis Program cycle 2017-2018, irregular detections of the pesticide were found chlorpyrifos in carrots, which is prohibited for carrot cultivation. In this sense, to analyze carrots from the city of Itumbiara-Go, the optimization and validation of the liquid solid extraction method with low temperature partition (SLE-LTP) was carried out. The method proved to be effective, since all parameters analyzed, such as selectivity, linearity, precision, accuracy, limit of detection and quantification, were within the limits allowed for validation of analytical methods. After optimization and validation, carrots were collected from four different points and submitted to the optimized method. After the analyses, it was found that the carrot samples at the four points were contaminated with the pesticide chlorpyrifos, at different concentrations, which is a worrying factor due to its consequences for human health and the environment.

Abstract: Due to the large increase in pests in animals, crops and plantations, there was a need to implement the use of chemical substances to help control insects, fungi and weeds. Brazil is the largest consumer of pesticides in the world since 2008, becoming hostage to an agrarian food production system, raising public health problems, as estimates show that Brazilians consume about 7 kg of pesticides per year. per capita per year, making its individual and collective impact particularly worrying. Oranges had their popularity in part due to the high levels of vitamin C, and in the analyzes carried out by the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA), with data published in the last report of the Pesticide Residue Analysis Program (PARA) (Cycle 2017 and 2018) released in 2019, chlorpyrifos was detected in 8.12% of these orange samples. Still on orange, four pesticides were detected irregularly, that is, they are not allowed for this crop, such as carbofuran, 2,4 D, boscalid and cyromazine. Chlorpyrifos is an extremely toxic pesticide and its concentration in orange cannot exceed 2 mg Kg-1. It is currently undergoing a reassessment of its use in Brazil, since it has already been banned in most countries where it was used. In this sense, to analyze the oranges from the city of Itumbiara-Go, the optimization and validation of the liquid solid extraction method with low temperature partition (LLE-LTP) was carried out. The method proved to be effective, given that all parameters analyzed, such as selectivity, linearity, precision, accuracy, limit of detection and quantification, were within the limits allowed for validation of analytical methods. The method showed accuracy, showing recovery percentages above 90% and below 120%, with precision below RSD ≤ 20%. After optimization and validation, oranges were collected from four different points and submitted to the optimized method. After the analyzes using the High Performance Liquid Chromatography method, it was found that only one sample of the oranges was contaminated with the pesticide chlorpyrifos at a concentration of 2.83 mg/kg-1, a concentration above the Maximum Residue Limit allowed , which is a worrying factor due to its consequences for human health and the environment.

Abstract: Crystal sugar is one of the most consumed products throughout Brazil. This product is derived from sugarcane juice followed by various cooking processes. In sugarcane cultivation, various types of agricultural implements and chemical products such as pesticides are used. One of the most commonly used pesticides in the sugarcane cultivation process is fipronil. In the state of Goiás alone, over 198 tons of this active ingredient were used. Despite the various industrial processes involved in crystal sugar production, residues of fipronil can end up in the final product due to the physicochemical properties of fipronil. Therefore, this research aims to optimize and validate an analytical method capable of identifying and quantifying the active ingredient fipronil in samples of crystal sugar. The chosen method was solid-liquid extraction with low-temperature partitioning followed by high-performance liquid chromatography analysis. The chosen analytical method has shown excellent results in various matrix types for different active ingredients. After method validation, sugar samples were collected from businesses located in the municipalities of Itumbiara - GO and Bom Jesus - GO to verify if there is fipronil contamination in the analyzed samples. For method optimization, a 22 factorial design was employed, and it was possible to obtain fipronil recovery rates in the sugar matrix of 91.04%. To certify the method's reliability, certain parameters were evaluated, such as linearity, which resulted in a coefficient of determination (R2) above 0.99, a detection limit (LD) of 0.02 mg kg-1, and a quantification limit (LQ) of 0.07 mg kg-1. Considering the values obtained for these parameters, along with the relative standard deviation (RSD) within a range of less than 20%, it can be stated that the SLE-LTP method is precise and accurate, making it applicable for determining fipronil in sugar matrices.

Abstract: This paper addresses the application of an approach experimental focused on the study of plant pigments, with an emphasis on chromatography and spectroscopy, as pedagogical tools in the teaching of Chemistry. The objective was to promote active and investigative learning among students of the Instituto Federal de Goiás – Campus Itumbiara, stimulating the understanding of biological processes, such as photosynthesis, and the identification of different pigments in plants. The methodology adopted involved an experimental approach that allowed students to experience the stages of pigment extraction, planar chromatography, and the analysis of results through questionnaires, both before and after the activity. The study, characterized by a didactic intervention, focused on the practical application of theoretical concepts in an interactive manner, promoting learning based on direct observation and reflection. The results showed that the students showed great interest in the activities and were able to understand the relevance of plant pigments in the process of photosynthesis, although some conceptual gaps remained, especially regarding the precise differentiation of pigments and the explanation of the physiological mechanisms of photosynthesis. The evaluation through questionnaires revealed that most students actively engaged, recognizing the importance of the content and the experimental method, although difficulties were also identified in associating some theoretical answers with practical results. In conclusion, the project demonstrated the effectiveness of investigative and experimental methodologies for teaching Chemistry, highlighting the importance of active approaches that integrate theory and practice to promote meaningful learning and the development of critical thinking. The study reinforces the need for continuous pedagogical adjustments to overcome conceptual difficulties and deepen the understanding of the topics covered.
