Abstract: Brazil is ranked among the countries with the highest number of deaths from traffic accidents in the world. In the Goiás State, traffic accidents that occur on federal highways are no exception to this statistic, as it has an intense vehicle flow and serves as a connection for people and commodities because it is located in the central region of Brazil. Therefore, it is important to identify the areas where these accidents occur most and to understand their possible triggers. This work aimed to analyze traffic accidents on federal highways that cross the Goiás State (Brazil) between the years 2017 and 2018 and, furthermore, to evaluate machine learning algorithms, in particular, based on decision tree in the prediction of these accidents. An exploratory analysis of the accident database from the Federal Highway Police was performed, focusing on the causes, types and classification of these accidents. Regarding prediction, the algorithms CART, C4.5, C5.0 and Random Forest were tested for the prediction of accidents with causes associated with the road conditions. The highest accident density occurred in the urban perimeter, especially in the routes between Goiânia City and the Federal District. The main causes of accidents are associated with human error, predominantly the types of leaving the carriageway, rearend collision, and rollover. For the accidents prediction related to road conditions, the best performance was achieved with the C5.0 and Random Forest algorithms. Variables associated with weather conditions and road surface infrastructure were the most important variables in predicting the occurrence of these accidents.

Abstract: Noise pollution is currently one of the main forms of degradation of the urban environment, capable of causing several harmful effects to human health. Among these effects are: stress, irritability, worsening of cardiovascular diseases, sleep disorders, hearing loss and feelings of depression and fatigue. One of the main sources of environmental noise in cities is vehicular traffic. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the sound pressure levels in traffic in a region in the East University Sector, in Goiânia/GO, with the elaboration of an acoustic map and projection of scenarios for the region covered in the research. The measurements of sound pressure levels were carried out in 2018, according to the guidelines defined by the Technical Standard ABNT NBR 10151:2000. The results indicated that, in most of the study area, sound pressure levels are above the maximum limits allowed by legislation. Given this scenario, with the application of the factorial planning technique, it was evident that the factor with the greatest influence on vehicular noise was the sound emission power per vehicle. Based on this evidence, two scenarios were projected: the first with an increase in noise emissions per vehicle and the second with a reduction in these emissions. In comparison with the levels of noise pollution obtained in 2018, it was found that in the first scenario there is a generalized degradation of the acoustic quality of the study area. In the second scenario, which considers the reduction of noise emissions per vehicle, an improvement in sound quality was observed in all locations in the region under analysis. Therefore, it is proposed to adopt a public policy that is effective in promoting the reduction of individual vehicular sound power. Among these policies, there is the Inspection and Maintenance Program for Vehicles in Use, established by Resolution No. 418/2009, of the National Council for the Environment (CONAMA), as a strategy to reduce vehicular pollution levels in urban areas and contribute to development sustainable development and the well-being of the population.

Abstract: The use of renewable energy sources has grown over the years. Among the main reasons, one can list: greater environmental concern of the population, the search for sustainable socioeconomic development of nations and shortages of raw materials for non-renewable energy sources, in addition to the possibility of supplying electricity to customers located far from the sources of generation. In this scenario, the microgeneration of electrical energy from solar energy appears as a response. The main objective of this work is to identify the main business models for photovoltaic distributed generation, analyze their evolution, main characteristics, applicability in Brazil and to conduct case studies for the state of Goiás. It is shown a historical overview of the evolution of business models for photovoltaic systems. Next are presented the economic indicators that will be used in feasibility analysis such as, Net Pre-sent Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Profitability Index (PI), Discounted Payback (DP) and Cost Level Energy (LCOE). Later, cash flow modeling are made for the Acquisition, Rental and Shared Generation models. As a result, all the economic indicators were favorable to the implementation of the projects proposed for the first two business models. However for Shared Generation model the LCOE proved unfavorable for two different consumer units.

Abstract: Contamination by nitrate and nitrite is common in surface and groundwater due to the application of nitrogen fertilizers and animal manure to the soil, use of septic systems and atmospheric deposition. High concentrations of these contaminants can cause damage to human health and the environment such as baby blue syndrome, carcinogens and eutrophication of lakes and rivers. Heterogeneous photocatalysis has shown to be a promising technology in the decontamination of water by these species. Studies have shown that the performance of the photocatalytic process can be improved with the addition of graphite oxide, as it is able to be activated at wavelengths closer to the region of the visible spectrum and thus delay electron / gap recombination. Due to the need to treat these chemical species, the removal of nitrate and nitrite by photocatalytic treatment in water was evaluated by developing and testing monometallic and bimetallic catalysts supported on graphite oxide in order to obtain conversion. The supports were synthesized using Hammers methodology with modifications in the amount of reagents and used as raw material, powdered graphite and polymeric activated carbon. The catalysts were synthesized by the technique of successively impregnating the metal onto the support. The photocatalytic tests were conducted in a bench scale system, with UV-C radiation source. The metals were deposited on the surface of the supports by the impregnation method. Palladium (Pd) was used to produce monometallic catalysts, while bimetallic ones were obtained by depositing tin (Sn) and copper (Cu) to the former. Photocatalytic tests were performed with a solution of potassium nitrate, sodium nitrite and formic acid (electron donor) prepared in the laboratory, under nitrogen flow. Monometallic catalysts 5% Pd / CAPGGO_1, 5% Pd / GPGO and bimetallic 5% Pd-1% Sn / CAPGGO_1, 5% Pd-1% Sn / GPGO, 5% Pd-1% Cu / CAPGGO_1, 5% Pd -1% Cu / GPGO showed conversion of 90 to 100% of nitrite in all tests. The nitrate conversion was around 9.1 to 14.6% for monometallic catalysts 5% Pd / CAPGGO_1 and 5% Pd / GPGO, from 11.1 to 33.2% for bimetallic catalysts with tin deposition 5 % Pd-1% Sn / CAPGGO_1, 5% Pd-1% Sn / GPGO and from 33.4 to 50.9% for catalysts with copper deposition 5% Pd-1% Cu / GPGO and 5% Pd-1 % Cu / CAPGGO_1, respectively. The characterization of the materials was carried out through the techniques of absorption spectrometry in the infra red region with Fourier transformation (FTIR), X-ray diffraction, by atomic absorption spectrometry and Determination of the surface area. The method showed no difference in N2 (g) conversion, however the supports showed differences in activity and selectivity. The results are promising for the continuation of research with modification in the synthesis of Graphite Oxide to obtain Graphene Oxide.
