More specifically, we address the steepest descent method, the linear conjugate gradient method and the nonlinear conjugate gradient method. A geometrical study of bidimensional problems is provided, illustrating distinct results as a consequence of the initial point, the demanded precision and the parameters that define the line search. Additionally, we have prepared a study involving four different expressions for the scalar in charge for maintaining the conjugacy of the directions. Although the results are equivalente in the linear case, there are significant differences in the nonlinear case, illustrated with several instances of the Broyden tridiagonal problem, with dimension from 2 up to 45. The general objective is to analyze trends and conceptions of student assistance from the perspective of professionals in a historical context of hegemony of neoliberal policies, scrapping of public services and counter-reform of the State. The specific objectives that refer to the three questions posed previously are: (I) Analyze the relationship between education policy and student assistance in the Brazilian socio-historical trajectory; (II) Understand the trajectory of the institutionality of the student assistance policy within the scope of the IFG; (III) Analyze the programs and actions arising from IFG's student assistance policy; (IV) Understand challenges and requirements for the student assistance policy at IFG, taking into account its purpose, organization and management and the commitment of IFG managers and professionals. The study hypothesis is that the student assistance policy goes beyond the limits of a financial resources transfer policy, considering that the Student Assistance Policy (PNAES) aims to provide conditions for students in situations of social vulnerability to establish development of its formation based on academic, scientific and social integration. The research that integrates the dissertation was qualitative and quantitative in nature, based on bibliographical and documentary research and empirical research. The first chapter analyses his prose and his belonging to the genre of the chronicle, as well as his relationship with memorial and autobiographical writing. It highlights his career as a writer and his narrative approach. The second chapter discusses the category of memory and its possible connections with environmental issues, exploring how regionalist literature can contribute to an understanding of the Cerrado and its historical and cultural representation. The third chapter analyses the ways in which nature is represented in Força da Nova and Quarto Crescente, taking into account different narrative perspectives. The study proposes a dialogue between regional literature, ecology, history and geography in the author's work. The methodology considers the system’s internal dynamics and interactions with the external environment using complexity measure, also evaluates the system’s ability in returning to equilibrium after an adverse situation. The proposed robustness metric application makes it possible comparisons between different resource configurations for the system under analysis. The proposed robustness metric application allows comparison between distinct resource configurations for the subject system. Three models are used for case studies: i) intensive care unit system model, ii) process scheduling system model, and iii) electric vehicle traction and braking system model. It is identified that in the scenarios with greater robustness than that recorded for the base case, the component’s contribution to the metric is approximate, with performance contribution at around 30% and the complexity and stability contributions at about 35%. In scenarios with less robustness than that recorded for the base case, there is a greater variation degree in components’ contribution to the robustness measure. Results indicate that the proposed metric can be used as a tool for quantitative analyses, which only consider robustness, and qualitative analyses, which consider performance, complexity, and stability together with robustness.
