It presents tasks carried out with teachers of the initial years of Elementary School (EF) related to the thematic unit algebra, in the proposal of the development of algebraic thinking. The material can be used in the continuing education of teachers in the proposal of tasks that instigate algebraic thinking, but it can also be taught to students of the initial years of EF, that is, from 1st to 5th grade, as long as they make the necessary adjustments. The tasks proposed for the development of algebraic thinking were developed through stories, games, and games. In which playfulness, creativity, and imagination are involved. Contents such as sequences, patterns, regularities, and functions are explored. With this proposal, we intend to give a voice to professionals who teach Mathematics in the early years, so that they can reflect on the teaching of algebra in the early years, in order to seek an understanding of this knowledge, with a focus on the development of algebraic thinking, towards generalized arithmetic and functional thinking.
