Abstract: Leaf-cutting ants of the genera Atta and Acromyrmex are major agricultural pests in Brazil, causing significant damage due to their high defoliation capacity and complex social structure. Conventional control relies mainly on synthetic insecticides, such as fipronil and sulfluramida, which, although effective, exhibit high environmental persistence and ecotoxicological risks. Consequently, there is increasing interest in sustainable alternatives, particularly botanical extracts, which are biodegradable and contain diverse metabolites with insecticidal and repellent properties. Among the promising species, Citrus limonia stands out for its high concentration of monoterpenes, especially D-limonene. This study evaluated the insecticidal activity of ethanolic extracts from C. limonia peels on workers of Atta sexdens and Acromyrmex sp. The peels were obtained from pesticide-free production systems, processed, and subjected to maceration in 96% ethanol for 15 days, followed by concentration using a rotary evaporator. Ants were collected from the experimental area of the IFG campus and used in four bioassays conducted in a completely randomized design, varying extract and solvent concentrations. Evaluations were performed between 24 and 72 hours by recording worker mortality. The experiments revealed a toxic effect of the citrus extracts and demonstrated the influence of different concentrations on leaf-cutting ant mortality. The findings highlight the potential of C. limonia peel extracts as a natural alternative for managing these pests, supporting the integration of botanical products into sustainable Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies and reducing dependence on synthetic insecticides.

Abstract: The Coccinellidae family plays an important role in the regulation of pest populations in agroecosystems, predating aphids, cochoniles, mites and lepidopteran eggs. This literature review aimed to understand in more detail: the success of insects on Earth; general aspects and taxonomy of Coccinellidae; reproduction, ecological roles and commercial use of Coccinellidae. Ladybugs combine high fertility, fast life cycle with complete metamorphosis and efficient predatory behavior, which makes them extremely effective biological control agents. To maximize its benefits and minimize risks, management should prioritize the preservation of native species, encouraging habitat diversity and the careful release of exotic species, ensuring ecological balance and sustainability in agroecosystems.

Abstract: Massai stands out for its high production of dry matter, rapid tilling and tolerance to intense grazing, making hay an interesting alternative to ensure food in periods of scarcity. However, it has a nutritional value lower than other cultivars and genera, with low protein content and high fiber content. Given the above, this review article discusses the main aspects of the use of the Massai cultivar for hay, including chemical composition, management, agronomic characteristics, implements used, advantages, limitations and recommendations for animal feeding.

Abstract: This study evaluated the temporal evolution of soil chemical attributes in an area managed under the Voisin Rational Grazing (VRG) system in the Brazilian Cerrado between 2019, 2022, and 2025, aiming to assess its contribution to soil fertility improvement and agroecological sustainability of pastures. Soil pH, calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), potential acidity (H+Al), cation exchange capacity (CEC), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), organic matter, and base saturation were analyzed at the 0–20 cm depth using composite samples collected during the rainy season. Data were subjected to normality (Shapiro–Wilk test) and homogeneity of variance (Levene test) assessments. Variables meeting parametric assumptions were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Tukey’s test (p < 0.05). Non-normally distributed variables were analyzed using the Kruskal–Wallis test, with Dunn’s post-hoc test. The results showed significant increases in Ca, Mg, and CEC, stability in soil pH and base saturation, and natural fluctuations in P, K, and organic matter contents. The findings indicate that VRG management enhances biogeochemical nutrient cycling, improves soil fertility, and represents an effective strategy for pasture regeneration in the Cerrado.
