Abstract: The prolonged use of non-renewable energy sources has intensified global warming, increasing concern about minimizing the effects of fossil fuel combustion. In this context, the search for new renewable energy sources drives the development of electrical power generation systems capable of operating off-grid, especially wind systems. This work presents the analysis and performance of a self-excited synchronous reluctance generator coupled to a wind turbine, with emphasis on mathematical modeling and computational simulation in MATLAB/Simulink. The theoretical foundation is developed, along with the modeling of the wind turbine, the generator in the dq reference frame, the capacitor bank responsible for self-excitation, and the electrical load. The system is evaluated under different wind speed and load conditions, and the results demonstrate the self-excitation capability and system adaptability. Therefore, the feasibility of the self-excited synchronous reluctance generator for wind power generation in isolated systems is confirmed, highlighting its robustness, simple construction, and stable dynamic behavior.

Abstract: This work aims to develop and analyze a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) with an outer rotor, designed for direct application in traction systems of electric scooters. Given the growing demand for sustainable solutions in urban mobility, the need for more efficient, compact, and high power density electric motors becomes evident. The adoption of an outer rotor topology directly coupled to the wheel is justified by the possibility of eliminating mechanical transmission components, such as gear reducers and differentials, thus reducing weight, mechanical losses, and overall system cost. The research initially presents the mathematical modeling involved in the Finite Element Method (FEM), aiming to solve electromagnetic problems relevant to the machine design stage, such as the calculation of phase magnetic flux, back electromotive force (EMF), and electromagnetic torque. Subsequently, the study details the constructive and electromagnetic design process, with emphasis on the influence of each parameter on the motor’s overall performance. Finally, computational simulations based on FEM are carried out, providing performance curves essential to assess the feasibility of the proposed application. The obtained results highlight the potential of the studied topology for use in light electric vehicles, especially urban scooters, contributing to the advancement of clean and eficiente technologies in the mobility sector.

Abstract: The growing adoption of solar energy in Brazil and recent changes in net-metering rules have increased interest in solutions that enhance on-site PV utilization, such as battery energy storage. In this context, this study evaluates the economic feasibility of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems with and without battery storage, considering two tariff categories defined by the Brazilian regulator ANEEL: Group A and Group B. The methodology combines energy modeling with a cash-flow-based economic assessment to compare both scenarios. Results indicate higher attractiveness for the PV-only option, with payback of 1.8 years (Group A) and 8.4 years (Group B), whereas the PV-plus-storage option yields payback of 7.2 years (Group A) and 14.0 years (Group B), reflecting the additional investment required for the battery bank. Therefore, under the analyzed assumptions, the PV-only alternative achieves the best economic performance for both tariff groups, while storage is mainly justified when additional objectives are considered, such as improved autonomy and reduced export of surplus energy to the grid.

Abstract: This study presents an evaluation of the artificial lighting conditions in classrooms of the old block of the Federal Institute of Goiás – Itumbiara Campus, based on in situ illuminance measurements. The objective of the study was to verify the compliance of the existing lighting system with the technical criteria established by ABNT NBR ISO/CIE 8995-1:2013, applicable to educational environments used at night. The adopted methodology included a bibliographic review, a survey of the physical and constructive characteristics of the analyzed classrooms, and point-by-point measurements of illuminance levels on the work plane, in accordance with the procedures recommended by the standard. The collected data were organized and quantitatively analyzed, considering average, minimum, and maximum illuminance values, as well as the lighting uniformity index. The results indicated that all evaluated classrooms presented average illuminance levels below the minimum recommended value for classrooms used during the nighttime period, in addition to uniformity indices significantly lower than the normative parameters. An uneven luminous distribution was also observed, with higher illuminance levels concentrated near the luminaires and reduced values in peripheral areas. It is concluded that the analyzed artificial lighting system does not fully comply with the requirements established by the current standard, highlighting the importance of periodic technical evaluations in educational environments.
